Hi everyone! Stoked to find there's a dedicated, active forum for my favourite edition :D

I'd like to ask you all for a little help, if you don't mind! See, I've had word from one of my best friends, who moved away a few years ago and was never able to find a new gaming group. He's visiting soon and wants to hook up with the old group for a hardcore D&D long weekend, which I am really excited for. So I was wondering, does anybody have a recommendation for a great 4e adventure/module that has an expected play time of ""a couple of days", that I could use as a framework for this special game?

Any source or setting is fine (I'm gonna hack it into my world anyway :p), but I imagine the group would much prefer a Paragon-tier adventure to Heroic or Epic - something that's natively Paragon, or close enough to scale easily, would be ideal.

A strong story would be excellent, but I should steer clear of a political/social intrigue type adventure (the group is not very socially-inclined; they like roleplay acting, with one exception, but have little patience for subtlety, diplomacy or subterfuge). Big flashy set-piece fights (the type with terrain management and additional goals), are great. Indeed, if you know of something with BOTH, that's probably our winner right there :p

Even if these traits are a bit too much to ask, I'd appreciate any suggestion that fits the play time and level range - the most important thing is to finish in three days. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :D

Oh, and just in case, here's a quick rundown of my players:

  1. Powergamer/Instigator: Likes tanking, righteous vengeance, and making friends with NPCs. Typically plays audacious, hot boys with rage issues.
  2. Pure Slayer: Likes beating enemies, hates talky/social stuff. Mostly just wants to be a gothy warrior lady who takes zero crap from anyone.
  3. Powergamer/Strategist: Likes classic fantasy, magic users and familiars, unusual races/origins. Likes playing lots of roles, as long as they're satisfyingly crunchy.
  4. Storyteller/Powergamer: Likes cinematic flair, one-liners, steampunk/magepunk stuff. Slightly cheesy sense of style, but very sincere. Doesn't have to be the most powerful thing on the field, but will get very frustrated if he feels ineffectual.
  5. Spectator: Has a great sense of humour, but super hard to motivate. Likes classic horror/sci-fi/cyberpunk. Seems to prefer ranged (detached?) characters.
  6. Pure Instigator: Super fun guy who fits in with anything. Likes playing weird un-socialised characters (or straight-up monsters) but seems to enjoy pretty much everything.

That's quite a motley crew you have at the table!

I don't have any specific suggestions, but I know that there are several shorter duration 4E adventures in the Dungeon magazines that are floating around. I've run an adventure or two from them in my ongoing 4E campaign before.

Right now I'm getting ready to run a 4E conversion of the Ghost Tower Inverness (a great 1e adventure), but that's below the level you want and also probably a little long in duration.

I'd bet that if you did a search for paragon tier 4E adventure download you'd come across links that would get you what you need. And by all means, let us know what you find! In the mean time, I'll try to get some time this weekend to go through my archives and maybe get some more specific recommendations.

Thanks skwyd! I've actually had a real butt of a time finding this stuff with just Google - sooooo many dead links! - which is why I was hoping people might be able to suggest things in the first place <Smile I do have all the Dragon and Dungeon magazines stockpiled from back when we had a DDI subscription, but without some kind of index, finding an a particular sort of adventure amongst them is a frustrating exercise.

So yeah, I guess I'll just have to go through them all one-by-one if it comes to that. But I'm still hoping somebody will be able to give me a slightly more specific direction <Smile

Yeah, sometimes finding ACTUAL 4E stuff is tough. I have an index of all of the WotC adventures published in Dungeon for 4E. However, it is on my personal laptop (not my work computer which is what I am using right now). So I'll see if I can pull that up today at lunch time and link it here somehow (I think I can put a copy in my Dropbox and post a link that way). Hopefully that will work and I can do that today so that you can dig through it right away!

Okay, I was mistaken. It wasn't an index document on my laptop. It was a google doc index on my google drive. In any case, here's the link:

If this doesn't work for some reason, let me know!

Oh yeah, one more thing. In Dungeon Issue 200, there was an index published of all of their adventures from Issues 1-200. They are listed from lowest level to highest and it gives the name of the adventure, the author, and the issue in which it appeared. There is further breakdown of adventures by setting as well. So if you have the Dungeon Magazine PDFs, look at Issue 200 and you might find what you need there.

Good Luck and let us all know what you end up doing!
